Real Madrid sports chief Pedja Mijatovic insists defender Sergio Ramos is a "pillar" of the club's future. Ramos ended several days of controversy over an injury picked up while with Spain by opening the scoring for Real in their 2-0 victory over Champions League opponents BATE Borisov on Wednesday night.
Now, Mijatovic will seek talks with Ramos' brother and agent, Rene, about a new ten-year contract.
"Sergio is part of the heritage of Madrid and one of the pillars on which the future of this team is built," said Mijatovic. "Soon we will resolve his situation."
