Real Madrid hero Alvaro Arbeloa is confident Cristiano Ronaldo will stay.

The former West Ham fullback announced his retirement yesterday.

He told Marca of Ronaldo: "Cristiano is going to stay.

"Above all, Cris is smart and he knows he needs Real Madrid.

"He has achieved the league and the Champions League with them and is at the best team in the world."
