Real Madrid and Barcelona are going head-to-head for Espanyol fullback Aaron Martin.

Real president Florentino Perez has a request from coach Zinedine Zidane to find him cover for left-back Marcelo and Martin has been recommended.

Barcelona are also tracking Martin this season, who has emerged under the management of coach Quique Sanchez Flores.

However, Real have an edge in any race for Martin's signature as they enjoy a closer relationship with Espanyol.

For his part, Martin would jump at the opportunity to move to Real.
