Real Madrid great Zidane labels Bale fee as 'incomprehensible'

Zinedine Zidane believes the £86million Real Madrid spent on Gareth Bale is 'incomprehensible'.

The Spanish giants purchased the Welsh winger from Tottenham for the aforementioned fee last weekend and former French ace Zidane suggests it is way too high a price to spend on one player.

Zidane also does not believe he was worth the £46.6m Madrid paid Juventus for him back in 2001.

"You need to ask that question in a year's time," Zidane told Canal+ when asked if Bale was worth the fee.

"Ten years ago, they bought me for 75million euros and I said I wasn't worth it.

"Today, I tend to say a player is not worth that. Two clubs agree on a price and no-one is forcing the other to do anything.

"That's football. Unfortunately, it's incomprehensible with what's happening today to pay so much."
