Uruguayan starlet Rodrigo Bentancur's move to Real Madrid has stalled.

The River Plate midfielder has been linked with Real this month.

Marca says the powers that be at Real Madrid, led by José Ángel Sánchez, had agreed to the transfer for a sum of around 10 million euros. The final details were thrashed out with Boca and the player's agent, Daniel Bolotnicoff, during a meeting in the Spanish capital.

However, using the looming FIFA sanction imposed on the club as an excuse, the decision was made to shelve the deal that had already been given the green light, albeit informally.
