Real Madrid GM Jorge Valdano insists Arjen Robben asked for his move to Bayern Munich.

The Dutchman left for Bayern complaining that he had been forced out, but Valdano countered: "He knew that he could stay, but his father was concerned about his place in the team and came to the club to ask that we accept some of the offers he had for him.

"Finally it was Bayern that approached the player and that is why today he is in Germany. It was the player who asked to leave for Bayern."
