Real Madrid GM Jorge Valdano says their penalty shootout victory over Bayern Munich was a good sign.
Real defeated Bayern in a friendly in Munich on Friday night.
Valdano believes that coach Jose Mourinho has his team moving in the right direction.
"We played up to par against a team that have much more work under their belt. We were much more orderly in the second half although the team is still in pre-season preparation," Valdano told the club's official website.
"I like how our two newest players played. [Sami] Khedira may not be in his best shape, but he fulfilled his duties perfectly, and [Ricardo] Carvalho provided security in defence.
"The trophy we just won is important, as is tonight's honoree. He was one of the best players of all time."
