Real Madrid GM Valdano fully behind coach Pellegrini

Real Madrid GM Jorge Valdano has jumped to the defence of coach Manuel Pellegrini after victory over Sporting Gijon.

Real won 3-1 though never fully took control of the game.

"He is the coach of Real Madrid and he is the subject of exaggerated opinions, but the club is happy with his work and the team talks for the coach in every game," Valdano said.

"We had a blow against Lyon, but the team has recovered. He has the backing of the club."
