Real Madrid GM Jorge Valdano has blasted great rivals Barcelona ahead of this weekend's Spanish Liga kickoff. "Everyone tries to create their vision for a place in the world. Barcelona does it inward looking from Catalonia and Real Madrid from Spain does it looking out.

"It would be difficult for players to say 'Viva Real Madrid' and still live in Madrid," he added, considering the way Barca celebrate their title triumphs.

Valdano also hit back at the way Barcelona identities criticised their spending for Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo, while ignoring the amount spent by Barca on signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

He also told DPA: "When Ibrahimovic joined Barca, I didn't hear any complaints from the Bishop of Barcelona" ... "it surprised me that the talk about Ibrahimovic did not reach the same level as when we signed Cristiano Ronaldo ..."
