Real Madrid fullback Dani Carvajal hailed their controversial win at Villarreal on Sunday.

Carvajal says it was a great show of character from the visitors.

"We fought right to the end and our performance in the last half an hour was fantastic," he said.

"We were in deep trouble at 2-0 down, but everyone gave their all and ultimately things worked out for us. It was extremely important to take the three points today and we showed determination and courage to get them. We knew that the game was slipping away from us and we all gave our all to get the win."
