Real Madrid fullback Alvaro Arbeloa has urged fans and Iker Casillas' allies to get behind current No1 Diego Lopez. Casillas was again benched for last night's win at Granada, a decision by coach Carlo Ancelotti which has shocked a large section of the Real support and many club identities.
But Arbeloa insisted last night: "No matter who we play in goal, what matters is the shirt he wears. The important thing is that Real Madrid is united.
"I support anyone who plays, it would be nice for the fans to do the same.
"This season is very long, there are eleven months to go. Plenty of time for everyone to help. Me too, I can be dropped. Iker should be equal. He has a lot of experience and certainly minutes should not be guaranteed.
"I understand the support for Iker, and I understand and I share, but we are professionals. I respect the coach's decisions. We have to be with the team.
"We already have too many enemies to kill each other."
