Real Madrid are locked in talks with Feyenoord for the star of the U21 European Championships - Roysten Drenthe.

Real sports director Pedja Mijatovic has been following the youngster for a year and is planning a bid after new Real chief Miguel Angel Portugal, whose appointment will be confirmed tomorrow, gave the green light this week.

Mijatovic has concerns over Marcelo's long-term status at Real, particularly as the Brazilian doesn't carry a European passport, and wants to bring left-sided midfielder Drenthe to Madrid for the start of the new season.
