None of Bernd Schuster's requested signings were clinched by Real Madrid over the summer, it has been revealed. AS says Schuster submitted a wish-list to Real president Ramon Calderon and sports director Pedja Mijatovic, which included having Manchester United's Cristiano Ronaldo well down at fourth-choice.
Schuster made it clear he wanted a striker and had Luis Fabiano (Sevilla) and David Villa (Valencia) as his top two choices. He also wanted a creative midfielder from Cesc Fabregas (Arsenal) and Diego (Werder Bremen), plus a ball-winner, with Daniele de Rossi (Roma) his top choice.
Still unconvinced by his fullbacks, Schuster also had Philipp Lahm (Bayern Munich) and Daniel Alves (Barcelona) on his shopping list.
