Real Madrid have been encouraged in their interest for Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen.

The Sun says Eriksen has been in talks over a new deal but they are struggling to reach an agreement.

That in turn opens the door for Real, who have been courting the Denmark star for some time now.

Real are considering potential replacements for Luka Modric, who continues to be linked with a move to Inter Milan.

Eriksen has just two years left on his current Spurs deal.
