Lazio striker Mauro Zarate is Real Madrid's top striker target, it has been revealed. Sport says in a rare show of unity, coach Bernd Schuster and sports directors Pedja Mijatovic and Miguel Angel Portugal are all agreed over the young Argentine's quality.

Zarate is on-loan at Lazio from Qatar's Al Sadd and the Rome club are ready to take up the option to sign him permanently for £10 million before selling him onto the highest bidder.

All indications are that Lazio can expect to double their money at the end of this season.
