Real Madrid directors push Calderon to go for Diego

Real Madrid directors are pressing president Ramon Calderon to push the boat out and bid for Werder Bremen star Diego.

Marca says Calderon has been told by some directors that "Diego would cost four times less than Kaka (AC Milan) and will be just as good".

Real coach Bernd Schuster wanted to sign Diego in the final weeks of the summer market, but sports director Pedja Mijatovic was against the idea, insisting that the midfielder - falsely - was a disruptive influence inside the Werder dressing room.

After their disappointing 1-1 draw at Real Valladolid, Calderon is now expected to order intermediaries to step up their interest in Diego this week.
