Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane admits they haven't been able to get away with cruising in games this season.

Varane concedes they were able to get away with more last term.

"In the league, it has been a more complicated season than the year before but in the Champions League, we keep moving forward, and are in the quarter-finals. I think there are games this season where we played well but didn't win, but the league is long and you need consistency," he said.

"Last year we had games where we didn't play well but we ended up with three points and this season it has been the opposite.

"We lost games at the end of they drew level. But the team continues with confidence, with strength, and we know that there is quality and experience in the group and we have faith that we will win titles this season and continue to believe in our strengths."
