Real Madrid defender Pepe has been named 'Person of the Year' by Portugal's Record newspaper.

Previous winners of this prize include the Real Madrid player Cristiano Ronaldo and coach José Mourinho.

Pepe said: "I am very happy to have received this prize and I am grateful for the support of the people who believe in me. It is a very significant honor and I give thanks to my teammates because without them I would not have won it. I am very happy and excited to receive it."

Ronaldo and Fabio Coentrão were present at the awards ceremony and congratulated Pepe.
