Real Madrid defender Christophe Metzelder is being linked with Arsenal.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger admitted on Sunday that he needed to strengthen his defensive options during the summer market.
The Guardian says Wenger may consider the merits of the Germany centre-half Metzelder, whose contract with Real Madrid expires this summer, rather than Fulham's Brede Hangeland, whom he likes but would cost upwards of £10m.
