Real Madrid have made contact with Porto for midfielder Lucho Gonzalez.

Real sports director Pedja Mijatovic made the approach yesterday after seeing negotiations stall over deals for Chelsea winger Arjen Robben and Feyenoord's Royston Drenthe.

Argentina international Gonzalez has emerged as Mijatovic's top alternative and the Real chief will meet with the midfielder's agent in Madrid today, says Marca.
