Schuster again preferred Baptista ahead of Guti for last night's 3-1 Champions League victory over Lazio and explained afterwards: "I have not settled on a first-choice midfield. The sending off of Guti (against Real Murcia) has opened the door for Baptista and he is playing very well. I must continue showing faith in Julio because it is the right thing to do. But in the next games Guti will play more.

"It is very important that we make changes and the team continues working. We have a very good level of quality in the squad.

"Guti's position on the bench tonight wasn't a punishment.

"Julio has been outstanding. When he wasn't playing, he never complained, just worked hard in training. I am now awarding his efforts."
