Real Madrid coach Bernd Schuster was delighted with the way his fringe players responded in last night's stunning 7-1 win over Sporting Gijon.

"We know we have many games during the season and we want to compete in all competitions, so all players have to play," said Schuster.

"Players like Miguel Torres, Javi Garcia and Javier Saviola know that on any day they could play and must be prepared. We have very important matches and, like in the Champions League, no time. That's why every day we care about the state of each player.

"We study on computers as to where they are physically."
