Real Madrid coach Julen Lopetegui has congratulated Rafael Varane after winning the World Cup with France.
However the former Spain coach didn't forget about Luka Modric and Mateo Kovacic who ended up as runners up with Croatia.
"Congratulations to Raphael Varane, a brilliant world champion. A source of pride for France and for Real Madrid", posted Lopetegui on Twitter. And afterwards he published another message: "Great work Luka Modric and Mateo Kovacic. World Cup runners-up and admired by all of football. Croatia and Real Madrid are proud."
Lopetegui was Spain's coach until two days before the tournament started when he was sacked by the head of the Spanish FA, Luis Rubiales. This was because his agreement to take over at Real Madrid was made public by the club.
