Real Madrid sports chief Pedja Mijatovic has told LA Galaxy to lift the quality of their squad if they want to get the best from David Beckham.

"Over there, football is completely different, less competitive," said Mijatovic. "They want him to score three goals a game and to star - and that is always going to be difficult.

"In order for Beckham to play well, he must be surrounded by quality."
