Real Madrid sports director Pedja Mijatovic wants Mahamadou Diarra to stay with the club.

The Mali international's agent has confirmed the interest of Inter Milan and Liverpool as the midfielder struggles to establish himself as a first-choice in coach Bernd Schuster's plans.

"I hope that he remains," said Mijatovic. "He is contracted. We have not had any formal offer for Diarra. He must know that we are happy with him.

"He arrived last year and won the League and this year we are on the right track. We must sit down with him and the coach and make a decision."
