Real Madrid are stepping up plans to land Standard Liege midfielder Marouane Fellaini.

Belgian sources say Real sports director Pedja Mijatovic was in Belgium on Sunday and held a dinner meeting with Standard vice-president Luciano D'Onofrio.

Mijatovic expressed interest in signing Fellaini, while it's also understood he sounded out D'Onofrio about Standard becoming a partner club for Real, which would see them send their brightest young players on-loan to the Belgian outfit.
