Real Madrid chief Emilio Butragueno has welcomed the loan signing of Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor.

Adebayor has joined Real for the remainder of the season with the option to sign permanently for €15 million.

"Adebayor will help the team considerably and he is of the coach's liking," Butragueno said, according to Madrid's official website.

"He asked for him weeks ago, when it was confirmed Higuain would not be able to help the team any more.

"I'm sure Adebayor will strengthen the squad. He will make us more dangerous and will give us a greater chance to fight for every title."
