Real Madrid chief Emilio Butragueno admits Espanyol deserved victory last night.
Espanyol won 1-0 thanks to Gerard Moreno's second-half winner.
Butragueno said: "We started well in the match, with control and chances, but the second half was more of them.
"They have played a fantastic match, they have been comfortable with 0-0 and they have grown and we have not found the way to hurt them more.
"We came from a good run, but today we have not achieved the goal.
"Of course they are not encouraging numbers for a team like Real Madrid, even with players as good as we have, but we have to continue because we have to be in the top four and on Tuesday we have a very important match in Paris. "
