Real Madrid challenge Tottenham for Boca Juniors midfielder Wilmar Barrios

Real Madrid are challenging Tottenham for Boca Juniors midfielder Wilmar Barrios.

Marca says with a lack of confidence in Marcos Llorente, Los Blancos are looking at Colombian Barrios and scouts from the club have been to watch him play for Boca Juniors.

Currently Boca are fighting for the Copa Libertadores and won 2-0 in the first leg against Palmeiras which means that they could face Madrid in the Club World Cup in December.

Boca gave a new contract to the player a few weeks ago, raising his buy-out clause to 24 million euros. Spurs were the first team to make an offer for the player and while at one point it seemed done and dusted, the Boca board halted the negotiations.

Now Barrios has a deal until 2021 and his buy-out clause is not a barrier to a move, especially the way he is playing right now.
