Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos is surprised by the omission of Porto goalkeeper Iker Casillas from the Spain squad.

New coach Julen Lopetegui has put a marker down and has also snubbed Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas.

"We were all are surprised when a player so emblematic and historic wasn't called up, he's our first captain," Ramos began.

"I've talked with Iker a lot but you have to respect the decision of the coach."
