Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos admits there was shock amongst the players when Cristiano Ronaldo declared he was leaving.
The new Juventus striker practically made a transfer request at the final whistle of their Champions League triumph in Kiev.
After the Monte Carlo gala on Thursday, in the mixed zone, Ramos touched on Ronaldo's comments to Movistar + after the final in Kiev.
"We found out practically when the microphones were being set up and we were surprised," he said.
"He [Ronaldo] does what he wants."
Ramos was named last season's Best Defender in the Champions League.
"Being the captain is a great privilege and a responsibility to lead a great group with different cultures," he said.
"Apart from being teammates, it is important to be a family, we have always felt that way and it is the key to success.
"We hope it lasts a while longer, because this is a golden age full of legendary players and I hope we can continue many years of celebrating these type of titles."
