Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos says Luka Modric deserves UEFA's The Best award.

And he is supporting the Croatian to win FIFA's version after being nominated - this despite former Real teammate and Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo also on the shortlist.

Ramos said, "He will be seen (the winner), he is a great friend and, besides, there are few players that I feel so proud of having him on my team, he is a huge craque, he is one of the few that (if he wins) I would be happy. It would be like if they gave it to me.

"Maybe there are players with more marketing, with more name, but Modric deserves that award."
