Real Madrid boss Zidane hails Getafe win: We know we can achieve something

Real Madrid thrashed Getafe 5-1 at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez on Saturday.

Karim Benzema and Isco netted first-half goals before Gareth Bale, James Rodriguez and Cristiano Ronaldo completed the rout in the second period.

Going into the match, Real Madrid sat just four points behind league leaders Barcelona and one behind Atletico Madrid, knowing a win would have taken them within a point of the top.

"We're doing our work and the players know that La Liga is important. Tonight we're going to sleep just one point behind the leaders. The most important thing is the work we're doing and not to look beyond that. We are only ever looking to the next match. Yesterday I said I was concerned, and the players went out on the pitch and did what they had to do, and they did it very well," said Real coach Zinedine Zidane.

“We're getting closer to La Liga all the time and I'm happy with how everyone is working. We know that if we're going to achieve something, we have to believe we can do it. From the start today, we showed that we wanted to play a good match, and everyone played their part. We all had a fantastic game, we took it seriously and respected our opponents. Now we have to move forward. We've won nothing, just one game."
