Bernd Schuster admits he's disappointed Real Madrid could not sign an attacker over the summer.

"Everyone at the club wanted to sign (Manchester United's) Cristiano Ronaldo and made a great effort, but it could not be," said Schuster. "Then we wanted to sign others, but were unable to do so for this season.

"People are a little disappointed, but must maintain confidence in this team, because we can go over and beyond what we achieved last season."

The Real coach added: "What is clear is if there is a possibility to sign someone in January we are going to take advantage."
