Real Madrid coach Bernd Schuster was delighted for Javier Saviola after his goal scoring performance in last night's 3-0 victory over Athletic Bilbao.

The Argentina international was handed a rare start by Schuster and repaid the German's faith with the opening goal and an impressive 90-minute performance for Real.

Schuster said afterwards: "It was the right time to give Javier the chance to play, because he deserved it. We've had him warming up in the second-half of games to play, but something always would happen and we could not put him on.

"Seeing how he was training, this opportunity was deserved and I am very happy for him."
