Real Madrid boss Mourinho beats Guardiola for coaching prize

Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho has beaten Barcelona's Pep Guardiola for the Miguel Munoz Trophy. The award is presented by Marca to the best coach in each division of the Spanish league. Mourinho is the first Madridista to receive the award.

Mourinho remarked: "Collective results are most important and this award belongs to all those who work with us. Last season was fun and quite exciting. We won a very important trophy in a final against Barcelona. We were runners-up in La Liga with many points, more than 90. We had a good season in the Champions League and we took more points than any other side in the group stage.

"I hope this season is more relaxed in what regards to referees. I haven't sat on a bench yet in the Champions League and it may be better for me to keep away because we're winning all our games. Referees have so far done a good job, which makes it easier for the rest of us. Mateu Lahoz allows teams to play their game."
