Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho has reaffirmed hopes he can buy a new striker next month. Gonzalo Higuain's injury has fuelled speculation that Mourinho will look to bring in fresh faces, although it is director general Jorge Valdano that would have to give the green light for any transfer activity.
"Signing players is not an issue for me to deal with but I already said at the beginning of the season it would be difficult with only Benzema and Higuain," Mourinho told reporters.
"If I have to go through the rest of the season only with Benzema it will be much more difficult.
"But this is something you have to ask the director general and he can tell you the club's position."
