Real Madrid are battling Arsenal for Real Sociedad midfielder Asier Illarramendi.
The Spain U21 international has been a long-term target for Madrid, though everything has been put on hold as they wait to confirm PSG's Carlo Ancelotti as new coach.
The delays have allowed Arsenal to step in and open talks with Real Sociedad for Illarramendi.
London sources suggest negotiations are already at an advanced stage over a €12 million deal.
