Ajax midfielder Frenkie de Jong has Spain's big two chasing his signature.

De Jong, 20, has emerged as a prime target for Real Madrid and Barcelona ahead of the summer market.

Don Balon says Real chiefs see De Jong as a potential replacement for veteran midfielder Luka Modric, who is considering calling time on his career in Madrid at season's end.

However, Barca are also interested in the youngster, who is viewed as a successor for Sergio Busquets, now 29.

De Jong's versatility appeals to Barca coach Ernesto Valverde, who supports technical chief Pep Segura's plans to move for the Dutchman in the coming months.
