Real Madrid announce Toni Kroos knee injury

Real Madrid have announced Toni Kroos has suffered a knee strain.

Kroos is set for around two weeks on the sidelines after the LaLiga club confirmed that he has picked up a knee injury.

"Following tests carried out on Toni Kroos by the Sanitas Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a sprain to the exterior lateral ligament in the left knee," Los Blancos said on Friday.

Real's statement did not give a timeframe on Kroos's recovery, but medical sources consulted by AS say the German can expect to be out for at least a fortnight.

Head coach Zinedine Zidane's chief objective will be to ensure that the midfielder, who featured in Wednesday's Champions League last-16 first-leg win over Paris Saint-Germain, is fit for the return on 6 March.
