Manchester City are ready to make a surprise move for AC Milan defender Leonardo Bonucci.

City boss Pep Guardiola has confirmed they're in the market for a centre-half signing next month and Bonucci is on the radar.

Don Balon says Guardiola is keeping watch on Bonucci's difficult situation and is willing to offer him an escape route to England. Making the veteran all the more attractive is his availability for the Champions League.

Should Milan show a willingness to negotiate, it is expected to see Real Madrid president Florentino Perez also kick into action.

Bonucci has been a long-term target for Perez and should Bonucci be prepared to move abroad, Real will be quick to make a counter offer to City in January.
