Cristiano Ronaldo believes he could have produced a career best ever season with Real Madrid - if not for injury.

The 25-year-old is proud of his efforts at the Bernabeu and believes it could have been the best season of his career had he not suffered an ankle injury in a Champions League clash with Marseille which ruled him out for 12 matches late last year.

"Before the game against Marseille I felt pretty good, motivated and confident," he told O Jogo. "Then I missed 12 games. I believe that could have been my best season but that's life and injuries are a part of that."
