Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo amazingly avoided a red card during victory over Sporting Gijon.

Ronaldo aimed a wild kick at Gijon's Nacho Cases after being fouled by the player in the second-half, striking Cases in the process.

But the Portuguese avoided punishment.

“It was an instinctive reaction. I could have been carded for that. If I tried to kick him on purpose he certainly wouldn't have got up," said Ronaldo.

"I shouldn't have done it."
