Real Madrid ACCEPTED a bid from Manchester United for Gareth Bale this summer, it has been revealed.
Don Balon says United were closer to landing the Wales international under Jose Mourinho.
The shock report says United actually had a £92million bid accepted by Florentino Perez.
However, once informed of Perez's decision, Bale snubbed a move to Manchester United because he deems it a risky project.
It seems Bale deemed a move back to England as a step down.
Additionally, Real also planned on replacing the 28-year-old with Kylian Mbappe, who left Monaco for PSG on Thursday.
