Real Betis chief Vlada Stosic says they can be proud of their deal for Manchester City striker Roque Santa Cruz.

The Paraguay international has joined Betis on a season-long loan for €1.5 million.

"The negotiations have been long because there were seven teams who loved him and we have entered an arena that seemed prohibitive," said Stosic.

"But we have done something that very few would do."

The deal is a straight loan without the option to buy Santa Cruz outright.
