Reading defender Ibrahima Sonko admits he could join Senegal for their African Nations Cup campaign in January.
Sonko, 26, has frequently snubbed call-ups from the Senegalese FA by stating his desire to play for France, the country where he grew up.
But the Royals centre-back has now confessed he wants to line up for the Lions of Teranga at next year's tournament in Ghana.
Sonko, who could miss up to five Premier League matches, said: "I spoke to the national team manager when Senegal came to play Ghana here and he told me he still wanted me.
"If they asked me to play, then yes I would.
"I am going to be 27 in January and I think it is about time I started playing international football - I cannot wait any longer."
