Reading's Shorey grateful for England break

Reading contract rebel Nicky Shorey admits being involved with England is a pleasant break from club life.

Shorey, who has rejected a new contract with Reading, helped to secure a vital 1-0 win over Derby County last Sunday which lifted them up to 12th in the Premier League table after a disappointing start.

He stated: "England is a nice distraction from Reading. We haven't been doing too great on a club level this season so it's nice to go off with the squad on the back of a win.

"Being with these players is always a great experience but we're not there to relax, we're there to win. Two wins would definitely push us a long way towards qualifying."
