Reading defender Liam Rosenior is hopeful a good performance at Liverpool on Saturday will catch the eye of England manager Fabio Capello.
But the former Fulham man has played in this month's victories over Middlesbrough and Manchester City and made no secret of his ambition to wear the three lions on his shirt.
"I have only just turned 23 and I want to play for my country. To do that you have to perform regularly," Rosenior said.
"I look at Curtis Davies and Micah Richards, who I played with in the Under-21s, and Nicky Shorey has also got in the England squad because of his performances at club level.
"I was unable to do that because I wasn't playing, but I have always been confident in my ability and confident that if I got a chance I would make an impact.
"We face Liverpool next and playing against Fernando Torres, Ryan Babel and Dirk Kuyt is what you want because you want to measure yourself against the best."
