Reading's Oster expects hot Sunderland reception

Reading winger John Oster expects a backlash from Sunderland fans when he returns to Wearside on Saturday.

Oster spent six years on Wearside after signing from Everton for £1 million in 1999. But he left under a cloud in 2005 following a string of off-field problems when Mick McCarthy was in charge.

He told the Reading Chronicle: "I haven't been up to Sunderland with Reading before and I'm looking forward to it.

"I'll probably get a frosty reception because of the circumstances when I left.

"But it will be great to go up there and put one over on them. It's turned into an important game for both clubs now after the recent results."
