Reading's Kitson backed for England breakthrough

Reading hitman Dave Kitson has been backed to break into the England team.

And Reading coach Kevin Dillon has tipped Kitson to make his name on the international stage.

He told the Sun: "It's not ridiculous to suggest Kits could be there. He has made it plain he wants that. He's not there saying 'I should play for England'.

"But he's turned down the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. They were desperate for him to play for them.

"He's different - he's 6ft 3ins. He is fearless, he goes into tackles and he is very skilful.

"If he continues to score goals consistently and continues to work hard in training and improve his fitness levels then he could make the breakthrough.

"That's the only thing for me - if he could do 90 minutes consistently then I'm sure people would come calling and watching him.

"International football is the next step for him. He wants to score a goal against every league club in the country, which is a strange one, but it would be great.

"I know he would love to play for his country as he's very patriotic and he is capable of stepping up."
